Malinowski, Bronislaw (1884-1942)
Bronislaw Malinowski (1884-1942), l’un des pères fondateurs de l’anthropologie moderne, est l’auteur du célèbre Argonauts of the Western Pacific (1922), ouvrage phare qui fait de l’observation participante un impératif méthodologique et réinvente l’ethnographie en tant que genre littéraire. D’origine polonaise, il contribue à façonner une nouvelle sensibilité anthropologique à travers ses séminaires socratiques à la London School of Economics. Personnalité à multiples facettes, participant à de nombreux débats, il œuvre à une deuxième révolution lorsqu’il promeut l’étude prioritaire des changements en contexte colonial. Fustigée par la critique postcoloniale, sa figure demeure légendaire.
