Anthropos : revue internationale d’ethnologie et de linguistique (1906- )
From its creation in Austria in 1906 by Wilhelm Schmidt, Anthropos: International Journal of Ethnology and Linguistics received contributions in different European languages (German, French, Spanish, English...), including Latin, as a guarantee of the missionary mark of the project and the theses of its founder on primitive monotheism. While ethnographic narratives produced by missionaries dominated the first decades of this publication, it nevertheless became a privileged forum for international debate, with the contribution of internationally renowned anthropologists (such as Arnold Van Gennep or Alexander Goldenweiser) in dialogue with Father Schmidt’s Catholic network.
