CRIA / NOVA FCSH
Edward M. Curr (1820-1889), son of British settlers in Australia, was born in Tasmania in 1820. Despite the amateur nature of his approach, he undertook a monumental linguistic and ethnographic project, with the help of many collaborators in different parts of Australia. The result was four volumes published between 1886 and 1887, the main title of which was The Australian Race. He is also the author of Pure Saddle Horses (1863) and Recollections of Squatting in Victoria (1883).
