Pierre Jules Momméja (1854-1928) was a French archaeologist and folklorist. A member of the French Society of Archaeology, he was charged with organizing the 68th session of its congress, which took place in Agen and Auch in 1901. Without abandoning archaeology, he also settled in a career as an art critic and further devoted himself to folklore, recording songs, superstitions, historical legends and drawing headdresses and architectural elements. These activity would accompany him throughout his life but with discretion, as he did not publish any articles on folklore. He died in 1928.
