The Instituto de Estudios Peruanos (IEP, Institute of Peruvian Studies), founded in 1965, is an important institution of social science in Peru and Latin America. For several decades, it has conducted research on the evolution of social, political and economic realities in Peru and the continent and at the same time works in the development of public policies. The IEP spans the academic and public spheres through its activities but also through the trajectories of its members, several of whom have held important positions in ministries and institutions. The IEP is a renowned publishing house in the social sciences; it also owns the electronic journal Argumentos dedicated to the analysis of contemporary issues. Since 2018, it has officially assumed the functions of a polling institute. In short, the IEP’s mission is twofold: on the one hand, the development of academic knowledge to understand social, economic and political complexity, and on the other, the formulation of strategies for social and political transformation in Peru.
