De la Bretagne à Paris. Paul Sébillot (1843-1918). Un républicain promoteur des traditions populaires

2008

This conference, which was held in Fougères, from 9 to 11 October 2008, made it possible to restore the full scope of a character, Paul Sébillot, who had never been studied before and whose collection of folktales or compilation of folklore facts was often all that was retained. It has allowed us to situate him in his time and with his multiple facets: painter, republican politician, polymath and especially an influential member of a learned sociability, characteristic of this period. The study of his biography helps us to better understand its contours.
