The international conference “Contemporary Views in and from Anthropological Archives. Histories, Practices and Dialogues” is the third meeting of the International Research Network Transatlantic History of Latin American Anthropologies (IRN-HITAL), a project funded by the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS-France). The network brings together specialists from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, France and Portugal and is part of the research carried out for the BEROSE encyclopaedia. The first conference took place in Paris (France) in 2022 and was entitled “Contemporary Histories of Latin American Anthropologies”; subsequently, in 2023, the University of São Paulo and the University of Campinas (Brazil) organised the conference “Histories of Latin American Anthropologies: Contemporary Experiments”. Following the debates raised at these meetings, it was decided to focus on the relationship between anthropology and archives. On this occasion, the University of Antioquia organises the 2024 meeting, which will be held under the auspices of different departments of the university and the IRN-HITAL project (CNRS).
This event is made possible thanks to the collaborative work of the Research Group on Anthropology and History of Anthropology in Latin America (UdeA-UNAL), the Department of Anthropology, the Master’s Degree in Anthropology, the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, the University Museum of the University of Antioquia and the School of Languages of the University of Antioquia. We are also grateful for the cooperation of the anthropology programme of the Universidad del Rosario, the Instituto de Cultura Brasil-Colombia and the Alianza Francesa Medellín.
