Hoyos Sainz, Luis de (1868-1951)

Luis de Hoyos Sainz (1868-1951) is one of the first generation of professional Spanish anthropologists. His research is based on a broad definition of anthropology as a human science and his work focuses on prehistoric anthropology, biological anthropology and the ethnography of the populations who lived in Spain. He created a school of anthropologists and folklorists and is the founder of the Museum of the Spanish People, the only museum institution created by the Second Spanish Republic.
